There exists only the frigid despair of your impending end. No decisive action, no hot-blooded heroism helpless. I imagine that this is what it would be like being trapped with a bomb you can’t stop. There is nothing outside the car, just Lisa, Twelve, and the last minutes of their lives. These element capture that feeling of isolation, that feeling away from the world. This synergises beautifully with the sharp beat of the piano, the mellow vibration of strings and haunting vocals of the music. The color palette of the lights and city in rain and night invokes a chillingly cold sensation. The scene takes place in the cramped passenger car of the Daiya and Hana Ferris Wheel, and it makes for a stunning backdrop.

For now let’s talk about my favourite scene so far: the moments between Twelve and Lisa aboard the Ferris wheel. The past is certainly a thematic topic prevalent in Zankyou no Terror and I will talk about that in the episode below. He isn’t some great evil meant to be defeated rather, he is an old man that did what he did serving a nationalist agenda that many would find unacceptable. I like the fact that Aoki isn’t presented as a villain. On a whole I think you could draw some parallels between what has happened in the past (they even go as far as name-dropping Auschwitz), and the back-story that Terror presents, which makes the discourse more interesting. The details themselves may seem a bit out there (sci-fi-esque maybe) but it isn’t too far-fetched once you consider the human experimentation conducted by the USA and USSR during the Cold War. First we have the meeting between Aoki and Shibazaki, and finally are we given the details necessary to ascribe Nine, Twelve, and Five’s childhood. For the most part, what the episode tries to do it accomplishes very well.

(I will, admit though, this was pretty funny)Įpisode 9 of Zankyou no Terror, this episode may very well be the high point of the series for me. As Five assesses rightly, Lisa has little inherent value in the story, and having Sphinx breakup because of her becomes cheap development as a result. It embodies the problem with Zankyou no Terror’s plot developments. The story moves on though, and soon we find Five and Lisa talking about her value as a character, which is some amusing irony. Twelve wants to stop Sphinx activities for the sake of Lisa (or rather, this is the solution he came to upon realizing that he does not want to sever ties with her), compelling in theory, but the story simply didn’t have the character depth to back it up. Lisa finally does what she was destined to do and cause the internal tension between Nine and Twelve. The major event of the episode is most definitely the crumbling states of both Sphinx and Five. We’ll get into more detail on that in the episodes below. What begins unraveling is a government conspiracy concerning orphans and what-not. On the police side of things, Sphinx’s origin is finally explored (ironically) after Shibazaki is suspended from the force. Zankyou no Terror keeps to an episodic crescendo/decrescendo format (as opposed to ALDNOAH.ZERO where the story is told in a continuous sequence) I think it would be more constructive to structure the post by individual episodes.įollowing fun times at the airport the show goes for a more low-key and expository narrative. Hopefully with this I can finally resume regular schedule. I will pay more attention to how i balance the fade in future videos lol. Here’s the second of the catch-up megaposts. It may seem like its impossible to play, but that's just because i didn't separate the left and right hand. I stopped transcribing about half way because the rest was a constant guitar solo, the piano part just repeats itself anyway. this OST is VERY repetitive so i can understand if it seems to drag on. I put my own left hand hand rhythm in because is would sound plain without one.

At first i though about only doing the 30 or so seconds that i heard, but if i did that i know i'll get a least one person asking me to do the full version lol. The OST/BGM is from "Zankyou no terror" episode 5 at the beginning of the episode.
